The Burner Homeplace
Restoration Project
Our project continues to move forward thanks to our board members, volunteers and donors!! We have received so much support from our community, family and friends. We will be reopening for the 2022 Summer/Fall season on Saturday May 28th. We are open Saturday’s from 12-5pm and by appointment 304-591-6930.
We plan to paint the exterior of the house before reopening. Check out our Blog for progress pics. Our museum displays the house with heirlooms and documents of the Burner Family, as well as artifacts of life in Cass during the timber days. The house itself becomes part of the museum. It is built of local hand-hewn chestnut and retains most of the interior features of homes of the late 19th Century in these remote areas. Our goal has been to protect all historic aspects of the structure. The Homeplace also houses a fine art gallery and art studio/center, incorporating a community arts program and a hands-on educational center for visitors and local residents to help enrich the community through the arts and the preservation of the unique history of Cass and its pioneers. We are adding a pottery teaching center and potter, Alison Safrit will be teaching wheel throwing classes beginning in June 2022!!!! Schedule of classes coming soon. How you can help
